Justice For Not Only King Kong

🐾 King Kong – Yishun (May 9, 2025)

King Kong, a well-known community cat in Yishun, was found brutally abused and killed on May 9, 2025. His body was discovered with his eyes gouged out and dismembered, a horrific act of cruelty that shocked the community. Residents and animal welfare groups have expressed deep outrage, demanding justice and stronger protections for community animals. The National Parks Board (NParks) and the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) are currently investigating the case.

🐾 Shere Khan (Papa Cat) – Punggol (May 11–12, 2025)

Shere Khan, lovingly known as Papa Cat, was found severely injured near Block 326B Sumang Walk in Punggol between May 11 and 12, 2025. He suffered from bilateral proptosis (both eyes protruding), tongue lacerations, facial bruising, and frayed claws—clear signs of deliberate abuse, possibly involving strangulation or blunt force trauma. Despite immediate veterinary care, Shere Khan sadly succumbed to his injuries. Animal welfare group LUNI Singapore has appealed for witnesses and any CCTV or dashcam footage that could help identify the perpetrators.

Two lives lost. Two voices silenced. And a nation left grieving—all within the span of a week.

King Kong and Shere Khan were more than just community cats.

They were loved, cared for, and trusted by many.

They were brutally tortured and killed in acts of cruelty that have broken our hearts.

If you do not like animals, just leave them alone.

They have done nothing wrong.

It was us humans who brought them into our world. Yet too often, it is also us who fail them.

In 2024, there were 961 confirmed cases of animal cruelty, the highest in 12 years. Out of 2,190 animals affected, 1,330 were cats. 😿

Tragically, beloved community cats like King Kong (Yishun) and Shere Khan (Punggol) were brutally abused and lost their lives recently. But it is not just them—cases of abandonment, neglect, animal smuggling, animals falling from heights, unethical backyard breeding, and other cruel acts are rising.

🐀 Hawkers were caught pouring boiling water on trapped rats, reflecting the ongoing inhumane treatment of rodents in urban areas.

Animal welfare groups like SPCA, SOSD, LUNI, and many others are fighting tirelessly, but they don’t have legal access to public CCTV footage, making it incredibly hard to catch abusers. This must change.

We need stronger laws, better resources, and more support for these groups to protect our voiceless friends.
